Waltaska Closing Ceremony

Colorful striped textiles with various patterns, including intricate designs, spread across a surface.

Being a deeply healing ceremony, it is not just reserved for mothers or the early postpartum period. The wrapping has a very calming effect on the nervous system and is a wonderful way to honor the end of a chapter of life, return to your center, or help bring closure after a traumatic experience.

The Waltaska, also called cerrada or fajada, is an ancient Andean closing ritual that honors endings. Traditional herbs and cloths are used to gently massage, bind, and warm the body, releasing emotional tension, and fostering a deep sense of well-being.

My Offering

The ceremony centers around the wrapping of your body in cloths that are used to stimulate the involution of the uterus and to stabilize bones, muscles, and organs after birth. This warms the body after giving so much energy to grow and birth your baby.

  • cocoa/tea ceremony

  • guided meditation & sharing

  • herbal yoni steam (optional)

  • oil massage

  • rebozo massage

  • wrapping in herbs and cloths (closing)

  • herbal bath

The ceremony lasts about three hours. I will bring everything I need and leave your place clean and tidy.

You are welcome to invite people from your birth support team or those close to you to take part in this ceremony or you can choose to experience this solo. Little ones are welcome to join us at any time.

Option 1: Closing Ceremony

Testimonial One

“The closing the bones ceremony with Clara was one of the most profound experiences in my life. The warmth and grace with which she handled our session allowed me to fully let go and open myself up. She built a safe space for me that made this an unforgettable experience, that I will cherish for years to come. What I was looking forward to turned into a whole prolonged epiphany that I keep building on, months later. Closing that last chapter of my life with her to open up the next was truly the greatest gift.”

“My Waltaska ceremony with Clara was an incredibly nurturing and healing experience in my postpartum journey. From the moment she arrived, Clara’s presence was calming and compassionate, making me feel safe and supported. The herbal bath was deeply restorative and I cannot recommend this ritual enough. Her passion, attention to detail, and authenticity made all the difference in the process. This ceremony was a gift to myself that every new mother deserves!”
